Over the past 2 months with so many of us working from home, we thought it would be helpful to focus on the proactive steps we can take to keep ourselves & our customers entertained, help them to stay healthy and take care of themselves in these uncertain times.
What a fantastic opportunity it’s been to get out in the garden (for those that have one & are able of course), and take the chance to start growing your own food. So, we set a challenge to keep people connected and see just how quickly you can grow your own vegetables from seed in your own garden.
We set up 25 participants who all got sent one of our Urban Balcony Raised Bed Planters and a couple of packets of seeds (either radishes, baby carrots, spinach or spring onions). All 25 of them took part in our challenge, the premise of which was simple; the first person to grow their own vegetables wins, but in order to win the participant must make sure they are documenting the whole journey by taking photos and videos of their progress and posting them on social media using the #GrowYourOwnChallenge!
We were sent some great photos and videos of the amazing results people have achieved!
The challenge was a win-win for all of the participants. As you know, spending time in your garden is good for you and getting outside to tend to vegetables is a great reason to venture out. Growing your own food is helpful, why stand in long lines 2 metres apart from others to go and collect your vegetables when you can grow your own in your garden?! Also, with so many people working from home, some completely on their own, it’s important that people stay connected to others and get involved with something fun! Getting involved in an online challenge has been a welcome break for some people!
The radishes were the clear winner, being the quickest of the veg to grow from seed within 5 weeks from being planted. Check out some of these photos to see for yourselves.
Our Urban Balcony Raised Bed Planters are an ideal way for any first-time growers to get started. And at under or around £50 each per kit, we’ve found them to be a real hit throughout April & May.
There’s no one selling these in your area either – so you could be the first. If you’d like to find out more, please contact Patrick on 07908 541846 (or email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
